Those climbs ar...Man, you took the difficult route! Those climbs around the Petriolo hot springs are truly incredible, especially considering the time of year. There is a much kinder and gentler route that goes via Rosia, Monticiano, Roccastrada and Montepescali, where incidentally, one catches the train back to Siena. There are probably three or four really wonderful routes between Siena and the coast, all rolling hills and quite picturesque.
