I have done two rides around the lake and the tunnels were tricky. Some are ok, some are dimly lit, and one has ABSOLUTELY NO LIGHTING! It's true! My strategy there was to wait for a car and as they approached the tunnel to jump in front of the car and block them, forcing them to stay behind with their headlights. I think these tunnels will be very tricky in a race situation, AND open to traffic. Note: that some of the tunnels have a strip off to the right that is at a lower level than the road surface. I suggest you don't ride near the right side of the road in the tunnels. The ride itself isn't strenuous but I expect the pace to be really high. Keep in mind that the winds normally blow to the south in the a.m., and switches to the north in the p.m. In other words it's possible that you can be riding in the wind all day. I try to "hide" in the groups. If you arrive dead tired at that final loop it will really bite...keep something in reserve. If it's a good weather day it would be a fantastic ride all around the lake, it's truly beautiful.Angelo senza la ohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00876175566987717150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-172202953319134786.post-90133072405087313172008-02-14T07:49:00.000-08:002008-02-14T07:49:00.000-08:00I think the main problems are in the long dark gal...I think the main problems are in the long dark galleries that we will encounter near Riva del Garda! They are long and completelly dark, and the two lights organisation will supply each rider will not be enough for seeing the street(perhaps is only for being seen from the other riders)! I wish organisation has thought a solution for that, because that galleries are really dangerous!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00961615749928782199noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-172202953319134786.post-37922427847631078572008-02-14T06:52:00.000-08:002008-02-14T06:52:00.000-08:00I was thinking of doing the 155km (must be mad), o...I was thinking of doing the 155km (must be mad), other than the last loop you mentioned, is is a particularly strenuous ride? Also, can it be a bad run for the wind.Cicloboyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01420924765012814389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-172202953319134786.post-87239560388036825312008-02-14T01:38:00.000-08:002008-02-14T01:38:00.000-08:00I will join this granfondo too!
