I hope your holidays have been wonderful.
I took time off from riding up until Christmas and then as weather permitted got two rides in before New Year's eve.
Cycling wise my 2009 goals include:
-continue riding outdoors through winter....as much as possible but I'm not going to be insane about it,
-get over my fear of riding rollers, currently still holding onto a rail with one hand,
-ride the trainer, or the rollers, on those miserable winter days,
-be ready to ride a century on the Flatlands Tour, May 2nd; the operative word is FLAT
-join RUSA (http://www.rusa.org/) and try some randonneuring events and see what that's all about ("randonneuring is long-distance unsupported endurance cycling. This style of riding is non-competitive in nature, and self-sufficiency is paramount. When riders participate in randonneuring events, they are part of a long tradition that goes back to the beginning of the sport of cycling in France and Italy. Friendly camaraderie, not competition, is the hallmark of randonneuring."),
-build up the Jamie Swan frame once it's back from painting by Tom Kellogg,
-collect the final Campagnolo Record 10 components so I can finish the Cipollini Cannondale,
-have fun!
Good luck on your cycling and other goals for 2009. I enjoy your blog - the NJ stuff and stories from Italy.
ReplyDeleteGrew in New Jersey and now live in the Seattle area. I used to work at Whippany Cycle back in the '80s. That's in the Morris County area. I still have a few riding friends back in NJ as well - some right in your area.
Your blog, as well as some others, have inspired me to start one: http://yoeddy.blogspot.com
Happy New Year.
I bought my first bike at Whippany Cycles, a NISHIKI road bike. Thanks for visiting my blog, and good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteIf you purchased it between 1981 and 1984 - I may have assembled that Nishiki or know the person that did.
