Team Geox-TMC to Continue On

Despite being denied a 2011 ProTeam license, which would have given the new team sponsored by the giant Italian footwear company a presence in all the major events of the season, Team Geox has confirmed that it still has ambitions to participate in those races. The team has Denis Menchov and Carlos Sastre as leaders.

Team Geox-TMC (TMC Transformers is a co-sponsor) was scheduled to begin a one week training camp in Vilaseca, Spain yesterday. Then on January 12th, Menchov and Sastre are expected to attend the presentation of the 2011 Vuelta a EspaƱa.

Sastre will begin his racing season at the Vuelta a Murcia, March 4 to 6. His objective is the Tour de France which he won in 2008. Menchov had planned to skip the Giro d'Italia to also focus on the Tour de France where he finished 3rd last year.

Geox continues to hope that they will receive an invitation to the Tour.

For the 2011 season Team Geox-TMC will ride Fuji bikes equipped with Shimano Di2.
Geox is footwear is famous for the waterproof yet breathable soles; respira (in above photo) translates to breath or breathable.
