Saturday: Giro d'Italia Start in Venaria Reale
The Giro d'Italia begins in Venaria Reale, Torino, on Saturday, May 7th with a team time trial. If you are planning to be at Venaria Reale these are key times (Italy time zone) for activities that day:
Fight for Pink ride, 12.00 - 13.00
Various activities, 13.00 - 13.30
Publicity caravan, 13.30 - 14.00
Squads test course, 14.00 – 15.30
Squads enter start area, 15.30 - 16.15
First squad starts, 16.15
Last squad arrives, 17.45
Awards ceremony, 17.45 - 18.00
The 19.3 km course:
Television coverage records are expected to be set for this year's edition of the race which is celebrating 150 years of Italy's unification. The global television distribution is produced by the Commercial Department of RAI which reports that the race will be seen in 160 countries and envisages a potential audience of 350 million people.
Coverage will be carried in the U.S. and Canada by Universal Sports, Australia by SBS, Latin America by ESPN Brasil and TDN, Europe by Eurosport, Japan by Jsport, and Africa by Supersport.
