First Tour Victory for Campagnolo "EPS"
Although there have been tour victories before with Campagnolo electronic shifting the first victory with the production version, EPS (Electronic Power Shift), came this week on the first stage of the Tour Down Under.
Andre Greipel, rider for the Lotto-Belisol team, was able able to win the final sprint ahead of Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre-ISD); Petacchi was also using EPS.
The only other WorldTour team using Campagnolo is Movistar. Of the 18 WorldTour teams the gruppo use is:
Campagnolo: 3
SRAM: 5
Shimano: 10

Campagnolo is sort of like tiny Ducati duking it out with the likes of Yamaha and Honda in MOTOGP. The Italian underdogs trying to win with passion rather than simple, cold technology. Biased? Surely! Proudly. (disclaimer: Campagnolo is an official supplier to CycleItalia while we just wish Ducati was!)
