2013: Ride Safe

I wish everyone a year of cycling safely.

We are reminded that even the professionals, with their experience and incredible bike handling skills, have accidents:

BMC Racing Team's Alessandro Ballan recently crashed while reaching for his water bottle on a descent at the same time a teammate slowed. It was a serious accident which left with a broken femur and required his speen to be removed. He was released from intensive care on Friday but remains hospitalized.

Lampre's Winner Anacona Gomez was injured on December 24th while training in Bogota when a dog ran out in front of him. He suffered ankle injuries that will require surgery.

Stories for the Italian Cycling Journal about rides, granfondos, touring, having a good time cycling in Italy, Italian cycling history, racing, etc. are always welcome. Contact me at veronaman@gmail.com.
