2012 Giro d'Italia: Denmark, Stages 1, 2 3

Detailed stage profiles above, click on to enlarge. This will be the first time the Giro d'Italia will start in Scandanavia.

May 5th: Stage 1 will be an individual time trial of 8.7 km in Herning.
May 6th: Stage 2 will start and finish in Herning, a 206 km stage
May 7th: Stage 3 will start and finish in Horsens, a 190 km stage that will finish on a 14 km circuit in Horsens.

Twenty two squads will participate.

2012 Wilier Twin Foil TT Bike

The 2012 Wilier Twin Foil TT bike is spectacular. The twin foils refer to the twin fork blades, note the steering and brake integration. I wouldn't mind taking one of these for a spin.

2012 Giro d'Italia: Cortina d'Ampezzo

This is unconfirmed: Wednesday, May 23, 2012, the stage will be from Falzes to beautiful Cortina d'Ampezzo. This could be the first of four stages in the mountains before the finish in Milano on Sunday.

The stage would have 4 passes: Valparola, Duran, Forcella Staulanza, Giau.

2012 Maratona dles Dolomites

Registration for the 2012 Maratona dles Dolomites, to be held July 1, will be open from October 12 to November 2, 2011! Register at www.maratona.it.

As the event is always oversubscribed the traditional random drawing for starting numbers will take place in the second half of November. Half of the approximate 9,000 slots will be for Italian participants and the other half for foreign participants. The list of participants drawn will be published online afterwards.

Also, beginning October 12th, vacation packages, including accommodation and guaranteed registration to the Maratona dles Dolomites 2012 will be offered by the Maratona dles Dolomites official tour operator Holimites. Further information on the packages at www.holomites.com.



The Gran Fondo NY team is also putting a package together that will include guaranteed entry into the Maratona plus ride days of the Passo dello Stelvio, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and the Selle Ronda Bike Day. Details here.

Two ends of the cycling spectrum took place yesterday: the L'Eroica, a vintage bike event, in the Chianti region and the Prosecco Cycling Classic, a granfondo, in Valdobbiadene.
