New: L'Eroica Travel

In the near future it will be even easier to ‘live’ the L’Eroica experience. Riding on the roads of L'Eroica in a supported structure will be possible at any time thanks to a new service that is being implemented. With the 2012 edition of the L'Eroica comes L'Eroica Travel, the ideal way to combine the unique features of the L'Eroica throughout the year using the permanently marked route.

A number of services covering all the needs of those who want to enjoy cycling tourism will be just a click away at www.eroica.it website: selected farm holiday accommodations, immersed in nature; accommodation in small towns, or even in the heart of Siena. From the site you will be able to build build your own dream on two wheels, in structures offering all the services you will need: bicycle storage, repair kits/workshop, route information, adequate dining facilities, laundry, bicycle leaning, bike rental, escorts and guides, internet access, and emergency services.


The services of L’Eroica Travel will be presented in more detail during this year's L'Eroica weekend, October 5, 6, and 7.

100 Slots Open for L'Eroica on Tuesday

The 2012 L'Eroica is already fully subscribed but there is another opportunity coming up to register. On Tuesday, May 15th, at 0800 Italian time, 100 slots will be opened at a cost 100 euro. Registration will open at www.eroica-ciclismo.it, payment through paypal only.The money raised will go towards charity.

2012 L'Eroica: Foreign Registrations Reach Limit

Today, on the first day that registration was open, the the limit of 800 registrations for foreigners under the age of 60 was reached by noon. Those who were born before 31 December 1952 may continue to enroll, without limitation, until August 3, 2012.

For those born after 31 December 1952 there will be two opportunities to register as apart of a charity fundraising effort:

On 15 May, exclusively on the website www.eroica-ciclismo.it, 100 places will be made available at the higher price of €100;

On 6 August, exclusively on the website www.eroica-ciclismo.it, an additional 100 places will be made available at the higher price of 130€;

Following this, no other registrations will be accepted.

The proceeds from the charity registrations will be donated to charitable projects adopted by L’Eroica 2012. Last year the funds raised through this method went towards the construction of an elementary school in Dissin, Burkina Faso. The school is now in operation:

L'Eroica and Gran Fondo New York Registrations

L'Eroica, October 7, 2012:
Registration opens in a few hours at 0001 March 1st . With field limits in place register as soon as possible at www.eroica-ciclismo.it. The field limit is 3,000 of which 2,200 slots are for Italians and 800 slots for foreigners (an increase of 300 for foreigners from last year). The field limit applies to anyone between 15 and 60. If you are over 60 years of age the field limit does not apply, whether you are Italian or not, but you must still register.




Gran Fondo New York, May 20, 2012:
Register today as on March 1st the entry fee increases to $240 for the Gran Fondo and $195 for the Medio Fondo. Get on it now if you are not registered yet: granfondony.eventbrite.com.

A Branded "L'Eroica" Racing Bike Survey

The L'Eroica organization is considering offering a "L'Eroica" branded racing bike. Before moving forward with the implementation of the project they are seeking input via a survey they have created:

Italian language survey
English language survey

I do note that have a carbon frame option which is a real mystery.

Any profits made from the sale of the bikes will be divided between the charities L'Eroica supports and the organizational costs of their events.

REMINDER: For the second year there will be field limits, explained here. Registration opens on March 1st at midnight ITALIAN TIME. The next edition takes place on October 7th. Registration is at www.eroica-ciclismo.it

Attenzione: 2012 L'Eroica Field Limits and Registration

Field limits were imposed for the first time for last year's L'Eroica. That will be the case again for this year's edition.

The field limit is 3,000 of which 2,200 slots are for Italians and 800 slots for foreigners (an increase of 300 for foreigners from last year). The field limit applies to anyone between 15 and 60. If you are over 60 years of age the field limit does not apply, whether you are Italian or not, but you must still register. According to the rules riders over 65 cannot ride the long course of 205km.

Registration begins on March 1st at www.eroica-ciclismo.it Don't delay.

Participation in L'Eroica is strictly limited to vintage bikes according to the rules on the website.

2012 L'Eroica Registration Opens March 1st

Put it on your calendar: Registration for the ever increasing in popularity L'Eroica is set to open on March 1st. Like last year there will be field limits so I recommend registering as soon as the website, www.eroica-ciclismo.it, opens for registration.
