1958 De Rosa Corsa

This 1958 De Rosa Corsa (restored) is being currently sold on ebay by a well known American collector. In his words, "One of the earliest known De Rosa’s, this cycle has been professionally restored to exact original specifications, in collaboration with Cristiano and Ugo De Rosa. Single stage, hand-rubbed enamel finish using original Azzuro paint (1950’s), exact varnish-fix decals and badges. Exceptional lug work, with finely shaped shorelines, thinned lug points and filletted valleys (see delicate curvature of top of headlug). Complete component kit is original to this cycle. Constructed of Columbus tubing with Cinelli lugset, which De Rosa employed for only a year or two."

Note text of correspondence from Ugo De Rosa below:

“Dear Mr. Kenneth, Mr. Ugo De Rosa check personally this bike and say that he build this bike end of 1958/59 .With My very best compliments of the exact restoration of this bike and good luck for you.

best Regards
Cristiano De Rosa
Ugo De Rosa”

“Dear Mr. Kenneth, I send you original paint for this bike in fiero (red) by Azzuro from 1950/60. I use Cinelli componenti at time of build to good use. I only use for short time before change to other. This is only cycle I build with seat design like Cinelli. Belissimo, yes? Cinelli crown was dificult to use, rigido”

Best Regards,
Cristiano De Rosa
Ugo De Rosa”

  1. I have an autographed De Rosa jersey and framed 8x10 of him cycling within a large black shadow box frame signed by Ugo De Rosa. How much is it worth?

  2. It's difficult to say with these types of items. A DeRosa fan might be willing to pay quite a bit especially if it's a vintage jersey/rare photo. You might check ebay for like items for Ernesto Colnago, Eddy Merckx, etc. My emailk address is if you wish to contact me directly
