A Very Early De Rosa
Thanks to the nice people at G.S. Guccilife we have these excellent photos of a very early De Rosa, dating to the early 1950s when Ugo De Rosa's shop was located in the Niguarda section of Milano. G.S. Guccilife writes, "Take note, this is probably the earliest DE ROSA bike you have ever seen. It dates back to the early 50s and it still rocks the decal with the first factory location, in Niguarda, nearby Milano. Found at a swap meet, it was converted in a city bike. Thanks to Pietro for the submission!"
Two versions of De Rosa history have previously appeared here in the Italian Cycling Journal:
De Rosa History, Part I
De Rosa History, Part II
If I were personally considering a De Rosa today I would definitely go with a Ti model as they are made by the only remaining De Rosa still building, Ugo's son Dorinao. A previous story about Doriano De Rosa:
