"Italy Bike Hotels" Consortium
There is a ever growing network of hotels in Italy that cater to the specific needs of cyclists under the umbrella of "Italy Bike Hotels". The network now includes hotels in ten regions: Piedmonte, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Tuscany, Latium, Calabria, Abruzzi, Le Marche, and Lombardia. The available services available to cyclists can vary from hotel to hotel but can include such services as De Rosa and Eddy Merckx bicycle rentals, daily organized rides with ride leaders, route maps or downloadable GPS routes for self-guided rides, organized day trips to epic cycling locations, associations with local bike shops, bike storeroom with restricted access, a workshop , laundry facilities for cycling gear, medical and physiotherapeutic assistance, and pre and post-training menus.
Special programs for spouses and children who are not taking part in sport activities are available.
The Italy Bike Hotel consortium is comprised of about 50 properties, situated in some of the most stunning and exciting locations for a bike lover: from the majestic view of the northern lakes, to the Dolomiti, from the Adriatic rolling hills and beaches to the wild nature of Sardinia, there is a wide variety to choose from. To be part of the Italy Bike Hotel consortium, the hotels have to abide by strict regulations and standards.
The website for the the network is www.italybikehotels.it. Worth a visit if you like to organize your own trips. You can also subscribe to their newsletter on the home page (lower right).
