Capodanno 2008


New Year's 2008. Ms. E. and I went with some friends to the fantastic Relais Villabella in San Bonifacio (Verona). Arriving at 8:30 pm it was continuous eating and wine tasting until midnight. The dance music began at 11:00 pm which got everyone in the mood for the midnight celebrations. At 1:30 a.m. the buffet course began. Oh my, I can barely move today. Back to riding tomorrow.

Continuous eating?
Cocktail (Prosecco di Valdobbiadene DOC, Az. Vin. Balan) di benvenuto con piccole gourmandises

la Crema di zucca con riduzione di aceto balsamico e coure ghiacciato al gorgonzola

la Sfogliatina di verdure con mazzancolle e salsa all'olio montato

i Tortelli delicati al profumo di rosmarino con ragout di scampi

il Risotto mantecato allo Champagne e Tartufo

il Filetto di manzo con salsa all'Amarone

la Mousse al frutto della passione con gelatina di lamponi

The above were accompanied by the proper wines, Soave Classico DOC Az. Vin. Gini; Soave Superior DOCG, "Il Casale", Az. Agri Vicentini; Valpolicella DOC "Primo Ripasso", Cantine Montresor.

The Brindisi di Mezzanotte (New Years's Toast) was with Champagne Mumm and was followed with a Delizia al cioccolato.

More dancing until the 1:30 am buffet opened. When we departed at 2:45 the party was still going strong.

Congratulations to everyone at the Relais Villabella for organizing the best funtion we've been to in Italy. Grazie.
