Lance Armstrong in Rome

Lance Armstrong arrived in Italy yesterday. Today he visited, in Rome, the Policlinico Gemelli to visit cancer survivors and their families and to launch the Italian portion of the LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Campaign:

Later he met with Italy's Foreign Minister Franco Frattini to discuss the campaign and the support Italy will provide:

Regarding the Giro he said, "At the beginning of the year my objective was to come to Italy and battle for a victory but after crashing (ed. note: in Spain) I don't know if that will still be the case. I envision Basso or Leipheimer as the winner. In any case, during the Giro I'll have the opportunity to discuss important issues such as the fight against cancer, world poverty, and also the beauty of cycling."
