According to SmartCycles, "Ciocc 'San Cristobal' (white) and 'Replica' (red) model framesets are new for 2009. Columbus double butted, drawn tubing, microfused brazing, Silva rear dropouts, investment cast lugs. Each with Columbus handcrafted fork. Handmade in Italy. In limited availability."
Prices: San Cristobal - $2099.99; Replica - $1799.99. See http://www.smartcycles.com/coppi_casati_ciocc.htm

That San Cristobal in the pic was a New York showbike - not all of the early ones had the gold treatment. The early ones all had skinny, fast-tapering lugs with teardrop points that took real skill to braze.
ReplyDeleteYes the standard issue was chrome. It was one of the first if not THE first to do transfers down the seat tube. Mine was/is red with the typical italian paint that comes off when you look at it. I am the original owner bought from shop in san jose in 1980. Resprayed red by JEvelot with hand cut transfers 1995
