GranFondo Campagnolo Roma: Huge Success

The first gran fondo in Rome, the GranFondo Campagnolo Roma, was a huge success attracting 5,500 riders from 20 countries on October 14th. The gran fondo coincided with a "car-free" day in Rome (electric cars were permitted).

Riders started in Terme di Caracalla, passed through through the Rome city center, and continued on the Appia Antica to the hills of the Castelli Romani . There were two routes, one of 91 kilometers and the other of 145 kilometers.

The 2013 date for the event is October 13th. This edition will have a limit of 7,500 participants with 2,000 of those slots reserved for foreign riders. You can pre-register before October 31st at 50 euro; after November 1st the price with be 75 euro. Details at www.granfondoroma.it
