Seven cyclists have been killed while riding in Lamezia Terme, in Calabria. Two are also in grave condition in the hospital.
The group, which was out on a training ride, was struck head-on by a car that was attempting to pass another car. The driver was, according to early reports, driving with a suspended license.
My heart goes out to all their families.
I can't bring myself to post photographs that are appearing of the carnage but this one tells the story.

I gather the driver was drug-impaired. A terrible story and my heart goes out to the families who will suffer from this completely needless tragedy, tantamount to murder.
ReplyDeletevery tragic. prayers go out to the families
ReplyDeleteIt´s such a sad story and I am heartbroken, the driver was from Marocco, with a suspended driving license, and high on drugs. He had a five year kid in the car as well. Heard it on Rai tonight.
ReplyDeleteHorrific and a huge tragedy.
ReplyDeleteAccording to another article, the driver had a suspended license for a previous improper overtaking incident and tested positive for cannabis.
