Campagnolo Record in "Century" Finish

Don't hold your breath waiting for a NEW OLD STOCK Campagnolo Record gruppo in the rare "Century" finish, a dark grey anodized finish that was offered for only two to three years, to show up on the market again. This gruppo is currently on ebay (item 330683659841).

The owner, Richard Sachs (yes the framebuilder), writes, "I have owned these parts since they were new and it's time to let them go. All of these components are in perfect shape, have never been used, and are in the original shipping boxes. Only the derailleur carton has any wear and its interior is a bit torn. But the contents are perfect. All of the contents in the eBay auction are perfect."

The gruppo appears in the 1991 Campagnolo catalog and was only offered for two or three years.

What's in the gruppo:

1. Record Century Crank Set 172.5 42-53

2. Record Century Delta Brakeset (cables are in the box, still blister-wrapped from Vicenza)

3. Record Century Derailleurs (the front is a braze-on type)

4. Record Century Headset (English threading)

5. Record Century Small Flange 32 Hole Hubs

6. Record Silver Seat Post 27.2

7. Record TBS Pedals (toe straps included but not showing)

8. Record Silver Down Tube Levers (cables included but not shown)

9. Record Bottom Bracket Assembly (English threading)

10. Record Alloy 8-Speed Cassette 11-24

11. Rohloff Chain

  1. This is the second NOS set to appear on eBay this month. The first set (item #160725880556) sold for $7500! That may have well been the reason this second set appeared so close to the first.

  2. Yeah Angelo. This also turned up on ebay but was quickly taken offline - presumed sold http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROSA-TITANIO-CAMPAGNOLO-CENTURY-C-RECORD-1st-GEN-C-RECORD-ALL-NOS-/220948884600?pt=Road_Bikes&hash=item3371946c78#ht_1310wt_1398 (NOS De Rosa Titanio with C Record Century Group). The mind boggles

  3. We were never big fans of the "Century" finish but Larry still thinks this crank design is one of, if not THE most beautiful ever made. Richie's bids are getting up there and we wish him well with his auction - he's a long-time advertiser with Campy Only! a website we just started supporting with an ad. We're unabashed Campagnolo fans, as lovers of all things Italian. W ITALIA!

  4. Final price - $4155. I hadn't noticed until today but the auction ended at 0605 Pacific time. I can't help but think that if it had ended 13 or 14 hours later it would have sold for a good bit more; there are a lot less last minute bidders in the early morning than in the evening.

Larry - I agree with you 100% on the crank design.
