Latest EICMA Milan Bike Show News

I am still waiting for my press pass to arrive! In the meantime here is the lastest news concerning the velodrome that is going to be built for the show:

30 CHAMPIONS RACING AT THE 65th INTERNATIONAL BICYCLE SHOW, THE FIRST TRADE FAIR EVER WITH A VELODROME INSIDE

In a few day’s time, 14 TIR trucks arriving from Germany will reach the grounds of Fiera Milano carrying all it takes to set up a 200 metre long track, complete with stands, lockers, everything. EICMA, in fact, keeps its promise and creates the first show ever with a velodrome inside. An extremely modern velodrome, where, everyday during the show period, 30 riders will vie for victory as they give life to the first edition of “BIKES4SHOW”, a two-man race on a par with the classical “6-Day” formula. The cast of participants is absolutely first-rate. Among the bikers who have confirmed their presence we have 3 Italian champions who scored victories in Stuttgart – the vice captain Filippo Pozzato, Alessandro Ballan and Alessandro Bertolini –, some of Italy’s best sprinters: Fabio Baldato, Paride Grillo and Danilo Napolitano, the Italian specialist that ranks highest at the moment, Marco Villa, the former Italian champion Enrico Gasparotto, the recent winner of the “3 Valli Varesine” race, Christian Murro, the 3-time winner of the Italian track championship Giairo Ermeti, and many other famous cyclists, including Alberto Ongarato, Yaroslav Popovych, and two favourites of the Italian public, the two Schleck brothers, Andy and Frank – Andy did wonders at this year’s Giro d’Italia taking second place and Frank played a star role on the Stuttgart track -, as well as a number of interesting young bikers with a bright future ahead. The races will take place from Thursday 8 November, the opening day of the Bike Show, through Sunday 11, the final day of the event, at different times of day, so as to enable all biking fans to attend the competitions:
- Thursday: from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.; - Friday: from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., and from 8:00 to 10:00 in the evening (the show closes at 10:00 p.m.);- Saturday: same hours as on Friday (but the show closes at 6:30 p.m.);- Sunday: from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 to 6:00 in the afternoon.
