Sir Paul Smith, the English fashion designer and cycling fan, is designing the maglia rosa for the 2013 Giro d'Italia. The new design will be unveiled in Milano on January 14th.
Smith was the guest of honor, above right, for stage 17 of the 2011 Giro when he followed the race in Angelo Zomegnan's car.
More recently, there is a contribution by Smith to the new book about Cinelli, "Cinelli, The Art and Design of the Bicycle".

Larry asks if this is this week's sign of the apocalypse? What's next, a BRITISH cook making the official food of the Giro? This entire Giro "design by Facebook/Twitter" idea scares the hell out of me. Will they toss all the tradition and heritage into the trash to attract new fans? Bring back Zomegnan!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's the "internationalization" strategy of the Giro. re: jersey: it was recently Dolce & Gabbana...arrivederci!
