"Wild Card" Teams Selected

Sixteen UCI Professional Continental Teams are granted "wild card" labels bringing the total to 17 (BMC Racing Team, USA, having been invited to the Tour Down Under, was awarded “wild card” status early). The “wild card” status is required for Professional Continental teams before they can be given invitations to ProTour events, but is not necessarily required for Historic races. The status is awarded based on strict sporting, legal, administrative and ethical criteria.

The Italian teams registered in Italy that were selected were Acqua & Sapone and ISD-Neri. The De Rosa-Stac Plastic team was denied wild card status.

The other teams selected were:
Andalucia Cajasur (ESP)
Androni Giocattoli (VEN)
Bbox Bouygues Telecom (FRA)
Carmiooro - NGC (GBR)
Ceramica Flaminia (IRL)
Cervélo Test Team (SUI)
Cofidis, le crédit en ligne (FRA)
Colnago - CSF Inox (IRL)
ISD - Neri (ITA)
Landbouwkrediet (BEL)
Saur - Sojasun (FRA)
Skil - Shimano (NED)
Topsport Vlaanderen - Mercator (BEL)
Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team (NED)
Xacobeo Galicia Team (ESP)
