Pellizotti: Doping

Pellizotti, third at the Giro d'Italia and KOM at the Tour de France in 2009, has been been stopped from competing by the UCI due to biological passport irregularities. The UCI has requested that the Italian cycling federation, FCI, open proceedings against Pellizotti.

More details to come, and more announcements about other riders......

  1. Is this a doping issue or a 'athlete was not where he said he was going to be' issue? I hope its more about poor accountability than actual proof of doping.

  3. The UCI has confirmed it has requested disciplinary proceedings to be opened against Franco Pellizotti (Liquigas-Doimo), Jesus Rosendo Prado (Andalucia-Cajasur) and Tadej Valjavec (Ag2r-La Mondiale).

No big surprise as last year both Pellizotti and Nibali were accused of working with Italian doctor Michele Ferrari.

Micro-dosing with EPO seems to be the conclusion of the blood profile results. A practice very popular in the peloton and perfected by Dottore Ferrari.
