What Was Northwave Thinking?

Or, for that matter, Cipollini?

Stories for the Italian Cycling Journal about rides, granfondos, having a good time cycling in Italy, Italian cycling history, etc. are very welcome. Contact me at veronaman@gmail.com. There are more than 1,300 stories in this blog. The search feature to the right works best for finding subjects in the blog and there is also a translate button at the bottom so you can translate each page.

  1. Those ad campaigns MADE Northwave into a big-time brand! Worked for Cannondale, no> Super-Mario, naked women, a sense of humor, they had it all. They had to be censored to run in US bike mags but the message was clear, Super Mario was COOL and if you wanted to be cool like him, you had to have NW shoes. Their popularity seemed to last about as long as the ad campaign in the end.
