2011 Grio d'Italia Start Team TimeTrial Course Finalized

The team time trial (cronosquadre) course that will be used to begin the 2011 Giro d'Italia was finalized today. The Giro will start on May 7, 2011.

A delegation from the Giro met with officials from Turin and Venaria to finalize the plans. The opening time trial will start in front of Reggia di Venaria at the Fontana del Cervo (below).
After leaving the town of Venaria the riders will enter
Turin area to face the long straights of Corso Potenza, Corso Lecce, and Corso Trapani totaling 5.6 km. The course will then continue onto Corso Rosselli, Corso Castelfidardo, and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The stage will end in the center of Turin at the Piazza Vittorio Veneto after 20.1 km.

The 2011 Giro d'Italia will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy. For the occasion of the start of the Giro there will be three exhibitions about the history of Italy at the
Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR) on Corso Castelfidardo.

The announcement as to which teams have been invited to next year's Giro should be coming soon.
