Cycling Trajedy in Lamezia Terme, in Calabria

Seven cyclists have been killed while riding in Lamezia Terme, in Calabria. Two are also in grave condition in the hospital.

The group, which was out on a training ride, was struck head-on by a car that was attempting to pass another car. The driver was, according to early reports, driving with a suspended license.

My heart goes out to all their families.

I can't bring myself to post photographs that are appearing of the carnage but this one tells the story.

  1. I gather the driver was drug-impaired. A terrible story and my heart goes out to the families who will suffer from this completely needless tragedy, tantamount to murder.

  3. It´s such a sad story and I am heartbroken, the driver was from Marocco, with a suspended driving license, and high on drugs. He had a five year kid in the car as well. Heard it on Rai tonight.
