Our previous "winners" in this category were the Campagnolo Record carbon water bottle cage ($159.95), the Selle SMP full carbon saddle ($699.95), and the Rapha in collaboration with Paul Smith goatskin leather gloves ($245.00, that now look like a good deal compared to the Bianchi by Gucci nylon gloves).

We're biased as SMP is one of our official suppliers but when the basic steel railed, plastic-base, leather (or microfiber in the colors) model retails for over $250, the all carbon price sounds about right. I think Brooks has a saddle in this price range as well. I will say the SMP quality is amazing - they could supply upholstery to Ferrari I think. As to crash-hats, check out the retail price of a top-line AGV or Arai moto helmet. Euros and dollars don't seem to buy as much as they used to, even in the low-wage places like Asia.
