The Giro d'Italia Should Do This

The 2013 Tour de France will begin on June 29th. The first three stages will be held on the beautiful island of Corsica. The first day of racing in France, Stage 4, will take place in Nice on Tuesday, July 2, with a 25 km team team trial.

The Giro should do this:
A few days before, on 30th June, during the "Nice Fête le Tour" there will be a time-trial for amateur riders, whether sports federation licence holders or not, to be able to test themselves on the route that the professionals will take several days later on Stage 4.  The departure will be from the official ramp of the Tour de France and the race against the clock will be held on one of the most prestigious French Riviera sites: the Promenade des Anglais. The roads will be fully closed and secure for a 24.5 km (.5 km shorter that the pro course) with a magnificent view of the deep blue sea.
