The 100th anniversary Giro d' Italia will have a new mascot: "Girbecco". Girbecco symbolizes "caparbietà, impegno, onestà, velocità, forza, coraggio", tenacity, engagement, honesty, speed, force and courage. Girbecco is a gentle rock-goat wearing a pink kit and a tubular tire the way riders used to do. On its two horns he wears socks in the colours of the Italian flag.
Girbecco is the result of a "draw the new Giro mascot contest" which was won by a small girl from Conselice, Denise Rocchi.
