L'Eroica Registration Opens Tomorrow, 1 February
Registration for L'Eroica, being held 3 October, 2010, opens tomorrow on February 1st. If the term L'Eroica is new to you this is how it's described by the organizers, "L'EROICA" is a period cyclotouristic rally held mainly on gravel roads, organized since 1997. It is a special "race" from every point of view. It proposes surroundings and scenes from the "heroic" times of cycling: dust or mud, no organized service, vintage refreshments, wonderful and demanding roads, great ability to adapt and to suffer. We search for the authentic roots of the awesome popularity of that cycling world made by the giants of the roads, which created so much literary legends."
Among the related L'Eroica ride stories that have appeared here in ICJ are:
Martin Appel'ss L'Eroica adventure in three parts: Part I, Part II, and Part III
Riding L'Eroica on a 3 speed Pashley (includes a link to a video)
Riding L'Eroica on a fixed gear

Don't forget the pro race coming up soon. Sounds like a lot more big-name guys might ride this year to get an idea of what it'll be like to ride these roads later in the Giro d'Italia. We're planning to head up to Toscana to see the event March 6 and combine it with a visit to the Gino Bartali museum. Sadly our visas expire and we'll have to miss the October event.
ReplyDeleteI've signed up for l'Eroica. Should be fun, but I think I will put 28 mm tires on the bike.
ReplyDeleteSprocketboy: good idea for the tires, bigger is better. Write a story!
