2012 Giro d'Italia, Stage 11 Results

Italian Roberto Ferrari (Androni Giocattoli Venezuela) won the 255km Stage 11 in 6:49:05 at an average speed of 37.840 km/h. Yes, the same Ferrari that caused the Stage 3 crash and for which Cavendish wanted him ejected from the race. Coming 2nd, 3rd and 4th were Francesco Chicchi (Omega Pharma – QuickStep), Tomas Vaitkus (Orica GreenEdge) and Mark Cavendish (Sky Procycling).

Joaquin Rodriguez (Team Katusha) keeps the Maglia Rosa and retains the same 17 second advantage over Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin Barracuda) and 32 seconds over Paolo Tiralongo (Astana).

"I have been upset by people that consider me a cheat and colleagues who have made certain statements, " said Ferrari after the finish. 'Now I feel relieved, but they were difficult days. It was not easy to go back to jostling in the sprint. I was, in a way, under special observation. Now I can say I am happy. For an Italian rider, winning at the Giro is the top.
